Job description
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Workday Payroll, Absence & Time Tracking Lead to support, configure, and optimize Workday Payroll solutions. This role will serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for Workday Payroll, leading system configuration, troubleshooting, enhancements, and production support while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure a stable, secure, and compliant payroll environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead configuration and support of Workday Payroll, Absence, and Time Tracking
Configure payroll business processes, earnings, deductions, tax authorities, pay groups, payroll schedules, balances, and retro pay
Support payroll-related absence and time tracking rules, including leave plans, accruals, overtime, shift premiums, and time calculations
Manage payroll processing, validation, reconciliation, and year-end activities
Troubleshoot payroll, absence, time tracking, and retro pay issues
Support integrations, EIBs, testing, Workday releases, enhancements, and production support
Partner with HR, Payroll, Finance, IT, and other stakeholders to deliver system improvements
Job requirements
Active Workday Payroll Certification (required)
7+ years of Workday experience, including 4+ years supporting Payroll, Absence, and Time Tracking
Diploma or degree in IT, HRIS, Business Systems, or a related field
Experience supporting Canadian payroll in a complex, unionized environment
Workday Payroll configuration and support
Canadian payroll processing
Experience supporting large, unionized payroll environments
Knowledge of collective agreements, overtime, shift premiums, retro pay, union dues, and leave/time tracking
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
