Python Systems Engineer

Overview

We are looking for an experienced Backend Python Engineer to design, develop, maintain, and scale web application platforms and backend services using Python. This role is ideal for someone who is strong in end-to-end platform engineering, including designing and building applications from the ground up, ongoing development and maintenance, system architecture, and delivering secure, scalable, high-performance solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable web application platforms and backend services using Python.

• Build backend applications and platform capabilities from the ground up, from initial architecture and design through development, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.

• Use Python as the primary backend development language to build robust, maintainable, and high-performance applications.

• Design and build RESTful APIs, integrations, and backend services.

• Contribute to scalable platform and system architecture, including technical design and architectural decisions.

• Own backend solutions throughout the application lifecycle, including design, development, enhancement, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable backend and platform solutions.

• Optimize application performance, scalability, security, and reliability.

• Participate in code reviews and follow engineering best practices.

• Troubleshoot complex technical issues and contribute to continuous improvement of the platform.

• 5–10+ years of backend software development experience.

• Strong professional experience with Python backend development.

• Demonstrated experience designing and building web application platforms from the ground up.

• Strong understanding of backend application design, development, architecture, and ongoing maintenance.

• Experience developing and maintaining production-grade web applications and backend platforms.

• Experience with REST APIs, JSON, and OpenAPI.

• Solid understanding of system design, scalable architectures, and distributed applications.

• Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL databases.

• Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD, and DevOps practices.

• Strong communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in financial services or fintech.

• Knowledge of microservices, Docker, and Kubernetes.

• Familiarity with security, high-availability, and fault-tolerant systems.

• Experience designing platforms for scalability, performance, and reliability.

• Experience owning backend applications through the full software development lifecycle.
