Mechanical Engineer

Location:         Montreal, QC (on-site)

Term:               Permanent

High Tech Genesis is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our expanding team. We’re looking for a candidate with experience in plastic injection molded designs for consumer products.

In this role, you will: 

• Using SolidWorks, design mechanical components and systems for use in consumer products.

• Design, prototype, validate, source, and manufacture various components.

• Create component drawings, assembly drawings, bills of materials, and change orders.

• Manage design data via PLM/PDM systems.

• Coordinate with component suppliers on tooling design, creation, and manufacturing logistics.

• Assist transition to mass production internally and at contract manufacturers.

• Collaborate with Product Design, Electronics, Firmware, Manufacturing, and Testing teams.

• Ensure designed products meet required quality and safety standards and assist in UL certification of final product.

• 7+ years of experience in mechanical design engineering

• A high degree of proficiency in SolidWorks CAD modeling

• Demonstrated experience with design for plastic injection molding

• Demonstrated experience with plastics materials selection

• Demonstrated experience with design for consumer products

• Demonstrated experience with thermal simulation software and thermal mitigation techniques

• Demonstrable experience with basic mechanical tools and mechanical assembly

• Understanding of GD&T and ASME standards

• Understanding of UL requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical engineering or similar

• Bilingual English and French written and spoken
