The Embedded Software Designer is part of the Research & Development team within a rapidly growing organization. The team operates in a collaborative, inclusive, and multicultural environment, providing opportunities to contribute across multiple technical areas.
This is an intermediate to senior, hands-on role reporting directly to the Software Radio Manager.

Your responsibilities include:
• Design and implement real-time embedded software (firmware) in C/C++ for ARM and Microchip processors
• Customize U-Boot and Linux for embedded controller platforms
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams (systems, hardware, and RF) to support system integration
• Maintain and enhance existing codebases
Job requirements
• Ability to obtain a Canadian Reliability Clearance
• 5+ years of embedded software development experience
• Strong understanding of software design best practices and ability to develop modular, maintainable C/C++ code
• Demonstrated initiative and ability to solve problems independently
• Hands-on experience with board bring-up and early-stage engineering debugging
• Experience developing and debugging device drivers, bootloaders, or board support packages (BSPs)
• Experience with GNU toolchain, Linux, and U-Boot
• Strong low-level software development skills and hardware interaction experience
• Experience using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and spectrum analyzers
• Experience working with communication and memory interfaces such as UART, SPI, I2C, NAND, and network interfaces
• Experience with Microchip MPLAB IDE (PIC32MZ series processors)
• Experience with XML, Python, and Linux Bash scripting
• Demonstrates strong ethical judgment and discretion when managing sensitive information
• Engineering degree or equivalent in Electronics, Computer, Systems Engineering, or Computer Science
Desired skills:
• Hardware design experience, including FPGA development
• Experience with RF systems
• Experience with low-power design techniques
• Experience working with multi-core processors
