Job description
We are seeking a Senior DevOps/LabOps Engineer to manage and support our development lab infrastructure in San Diego. This hands-on, onsite role focuses on maintaining development tools, supporting test automation, coordinating lab operations, and ensuring maximum uptime for mission-critical software projects. You’ll collaborate closely with worldwide lab teams, project managers, IT, and engineering groups to ensure tools, environments, and automation frameworks meet project goals.
Key Responsibilities
DevOps & Development Tooling
Administer and support CI/CD pipelines and development tools (Git, GitLab, Jenkins, etc.)
Oversee deployment, integration, and high availability of cloud/on-prem tools
Monitor storage capacity and licensing; recommend upgrades and renewals
Support and improve test automation frameworks and pipelines
Troubleshoot and resolve issues in code deployments and build environments
Lab Operations
Maintain lab hardware/software environments, including inventory and physical setup
Coordinate with corporate IT on lab growth, equipment upgrades, and software installations
Ensure well-organized, scalable, and secure server rooms and lab setups
Cross-Team Collaboration
Support internal and external project teams with tooling and test environment needs
Work with purchasing to procure software/hardware and monitor licensing
Coordinate globally with Lab Operations and Technical Leads for consistent tooling standards
Test Automation & CI/CD
Identify automation opportunities and implement test infrastructure
Contribute to continuous improvement in testing speed, reliability, and reporting
Research tools and frameworks to fit embedded, mission-critical testing needs
Scripting experience
Job requirements
4+ years of Linux systems administration experience
2+ years of hands-on CI/CD pipeline management
Strong scripting skills in Bash and/or Python
Proficiency with tools such as Git/GitLab, Jenkins, and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes)
Experience managing and scaling development environments and toolchains
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
Applicants must be U.S. Citizens to be considered for this position due to government contract requirements
Preferred
Experience in embedded systems or mission-critical industries
Familiarity with Polarion or similar test management tools
Understanding of microservices architecture and globally distributed systems
